A PRACTICAL PRE-BOOKING REVIEW

The travel costs that deserve a second look.

Use this checklist to turn scattered quotes into one estimate. A blank optional cost in the calculator is treated as zero; that does not establish that the trip has no such expense.

Flights and getting to the airport

Accommodation and the whole party

The FTC has highlighted how mandatory fees can complicate hotel price comparisons. Its consumer guidance on upfront hotel pricing is useful background. Still verify the particular quote, optional selections and the costs relevant to your trip.

Daily spending and a reserve

Rental cars and refundable holds

A car estimate may need more than a daily rate: check taxes, insurance choices, fuel, parking and the rental period. A refundable hold affects available funds even though it may not be a final expense. When an entered car or vacation-rental deposit is selected in the plan, the budget shows it separately from the expense total.

Before you call the budget ready

  1. Check the missing-items list and enter the required prices and dates.
  2. Review optional categories, rather than treating every blank as a confirmed zero.
  3. Verify that each quoted amount uses the same currency; the current calculator displays USD and does not convert currencies automatically.
  4. Compare the total with your limit, including the reserve.
  5. Check final conditions and prices with the provider before paying.

Budget Rescue changes are hypotheses. A lower modeled total is useful for deciding what to investigate next; it is not a confirmed discount or a reservation.
