BEFORE YOU CHOOSE A FLIGHT

Compare flight offers beyond the base fare.

The lower advertised fare can lead to a higher entered total once you add the extras you actually need and the cost of reaching the airport.

Compare the same trip on both sides.

Check the route, return dates, traveler count and passenger ages before comparing prices. Make sure both quotes cover the same direction: a one-way quote and a round-trip quote are different products. Review the cabin, cancellation conditions, connection time and arrival airport as well as the price.

TripCeiling's quick flight-search link uses adult travelers in economy. If children or infants are traveling, verify the passenger breakdown on the provider's search form. Quotes and availability come from the provider, and chosen prices must be entered in the planner.

Use one clear calculation.

Group flight cost = (round-trip fare per traveler + airline extras per traveler) × travelers + group airport access.

Airline extras can include baggage or seat fees that apply to your booking. Group airport access can include a taxi, fuel and parking or another transfer. Include an expense once: airport access is a group amount in this formula, so do not multiply it by the number of travelers again.

A higher base fare can have a lower complete total.

ILLUSTRATIVE INPUTS · USD · 1 TRAVELER

Entered costOption AOption B
Round-trip fare$150$205
Baggage and seat fees$95$30
Airport access$65$35
Complete entered total$310$270

Option A starts $55 lower on base fare. After the entered extras, Option B is $40 lower overall. These figures demonstrate the calculation; they are not offers from an airline.

Check what the baggage amount means.

Ask whether the displayed baggage allowance covers every traveler and every leg. Confirm whether an optional baggage toggle adds a fee to the total and whether that amount applies to the group or one person. Do not add a fee a second time if the fare already includes it. The final provider checkout and fare conditions should determine your input.

Account for the group correctly.

If the provider quotes a total for the whole party, work out the per-traveler amount before entering a per-traveler field. If travelers have different baggage needs, use a consistent average or include the combined cost in an appropriate group field. Add any explanatory note so a saved comparison makes sense later.

A longer connection or inconvenient arrival may save money but cost time. TripCeiling compares the numbers you enter; it does not decide whether a schedule or fare condition is acceptable to you.
